Privacy Complaints Procedure

Making a data protection complaint

From 19 June 2026, the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 requires all organisations that process personal data to have a formal, documented procedure for handling data protection complaints.

If you believe LGCIT has handled your personal data in a way that does not comply with UK data protection law, you have the right to complain to us.

What is a data protection complaint?

A data protection complaint is any expression of dissatisfaction about how we have collected, used, stored, or shared your personal data, where you consider there has been a breach of UK GDPR requirements.

This includes concerns about:

  • How your personal data was collected or used without your consent
  • Inadequate security measures leading to a data breach
  • Failure to respond to a Subject Access Request
  • Unsolicited marketing communications
  • Any other concern relating to your data protection rights
